I Break Horses – Hearts

Beautiful track and video…

Queens of the Stone Age at Roundhouse

Was a fantastic gig – they played the first album in full which was fantastic. I took a few pics on the LCA but they didn’t come out well so these are the best ones.

After smashing through the album they also played 8 extra lesser heard tracks:

Burn the Witch
Make It Wit Chu
Monsters in the Parasol
Hangin’ Tree
I Never Came
Little Sister
Sick, Sick, Sick
Go With the Flow

Les Savy Fav at Komedia 15th November 2010

After checking out the first support band online I decided not get to the venue a little later so the first band I saw was Sky Larkin. Recorded they have a really nice feel to them with good writing and production. I think they must of upset the sound guy (a mistake I learnt to never repeat in college) as their sound was terrible. Bass was super loud but the vocals could barely be heard. It was a real shame as I could imagine people wouldn’t see past the sound and judge the band on this performance.

As soon as frontman Tim Harrington came out onto the stage he controlled the audience. Looking like Zach Galafinakas with linen shirt and wig he went straight into a motivational speaker style speech – much to the amusement of the audience. Pretty soon he was in the crowd with the wig being thrown around. A kid jumped onto stage, got a bit more than he bargained for and he was made to share his jumper! This pretty much continued until the end with shirtless proclamation of his sexual peak at 36 and rolling around in pink y-fronts in the audience.

Aside from the theatrics (which had most of the venue in laughter) the band were rock solid, guitars sounded fantastic – really giving free reign to the performance. They played a good selection from the latest album and some choice older material.

I love crazy shows but when it is at the expense of the music (The Chariot) I can’t get behind it but this was perfect. All in all a fantastic gig – am thinking about going to another show on the tour before they leave.
